Morden mosasaur dives into pages of Guinness World Records Book

One of Morden's two publicly displayed mosasaurs has officially secured an entry in next year's Guinness World Records Book.

Bruce was previously acknowledged by record book as being longest mosasaur on public display

One of Morden's two publicly displayed mosasaurs has officially secured an entry in next year's Guinness World Records Book.

Coming in at more than 13 metres (or 43 feet) in length, Guinness named Bruce the mosasaur the longest of its species on display in the world in the fall of 2014.

On Thursday, the Canadian Fossil Discovery Centre (CFDC) announced that out of only 4,000 of roughly 65,000 record submissions published in the book annually, Guinness will be including Bruce in its 2016 edition.

"It was an amazing honour just to receive the record last year, but to actually find ourselves in the 2016, 60th anniversary edition is overwhelming," Peter Cantelon, CFDC executive director, said in a release.

"Knowing that millions of people all over the world are going to read about us, Morden, Manitoba and Canada makes us incredibly proud."

The Guinness World Records Book was first published in 1955. Since then, it has been published in 37 languages and continues to be distributed worldwide.
