The head of Canada's National Microbiology Lab has left his post.
Dr. Frank Plummer ended his 14-year award-winning career with the Level 4 virology containment facility in Winnipeg at the end of March.
Deputy Chief Public Health Officer of Canada Dr. Gregory Taylor said Plummer will be greatly missed.
Taylor said Plummer, senior advisor to the Public Health Agency of Canada, will be involved in picking his successor.
"Dr. Plummer stepped down for personal reasons," said Taylor. "Dr. Plummer has had an outstanding career in building the lab, and we are thrilled and delighted in the work he has done, but his life has changed and he is moving on."
