Brian Pallister's provincial government wasted no time in appointing a new board for Manitoba Hydro.

A new chair, vice-chair and several directors were appointed Wednesday, two days after Pallister and his cabinet were officially sworn in.

Chairing the board will be H. Sanford Riley, while the new vice-chair will be Steve Kroft.

New directors include David Brown, Earl Edmondson, Cliff Graydon, Jennefer Nepinak, Michael Pyle, Allen Snyder, Dayna Spiring and Dr. Annette Trimbee.

The new board has one fewer directors. In a release, provincial officials said the trimmed-down board was part of its plan to make a "more efficient government."
