Twice the alcohol limit and nearly twice the speed limit.

RCMP pulled a driver over for both early Saturday morning, about 25 kilometres east of Brandon.

Around 2:20 a.m., officers were on patrol on Highway 1 when an eastbound white Dodge Ram raced by and was clocked doing 196 km/h, RCMP said in a news release.

After pulling the driver over, RCMP found open liquor in the vehicle. The vehicle also had a prohibited LED light bar.

A breath test for the driver, a 21-year-old man from Carberry, Man., came back at twice the legal limit, police said.

The driver was charged for speeding, prohibited lights and unlawful transport of liquor in a motor vehicle.

Police are also contemplating criminal charges of impaired driving and dangerous driving, they said in a release.

The passenger, a 24-year-old man from The Pas, Man., was charged with consuming liquor in a public place.
