A man was seriously injured when he was attacked at an Osborne Street restaurant, Winnipeg police say.

A man was seriously injured when he was attacked at an Osborne Street restaurant, Winnipeg police say.

Officers arrived at the restaurant at about 10 a.m. Tuesday following a report of an assault, Winnipeg police said in a statement Wednesday.

They found a man, 45, suffering from a serious upper body injury. His attacker, a person he knew, fled before officers arrived, police said.

The victim got emergency medical care at the scene, and was taken to the hospital in critical condition. His condition has since been upgraded to stable, police said.
