A morning road rage incident quickly escalated into a gun scene on just east of Winnipeg.

Two vehicles were speeding, each trying to pass the other, until one driver cut the other off, according to RCMP, who said the incident happened on the Perimeter Highway at about 7:30 a.m. Tuesday.

When both vehicles stopped at a red light on Dugald Road, two men got out of one car and went over to the driver of the other vehicle. After an argument, the driver pulled out what appeared to be a semi-automatic pistol and threatened the two men, police said.

The two men quickly walked away and called police, who later found and arrested a 25-year-old man. They also took Colt Defender .177 calibre air pistol from the car.

The 25-year-old man has been charged with pointing a firearm, uttering threats, and using a firearm while committing an indictable offence.
