Man killed in hunting incident

A 35-year-old man from Fort Alexander, Man., was killed in a hunting accident on Thursday morning.

A 35-year-old man from Fort Alexander, Man., was killed in a hunting incident on Thursday morning.

The RCMP were called to an area of Crown land about 45 kilometres north of the town of Powerview at about 2:30 a.m.

Police said a number of people were hunting near Happy Lake Road, just off Trans Licence Road, when the man was fatally shot.

The victim's name has not yet been released.

RCMP continue to investigate and an autopsy is being planned to take place at the Health Science Center in Winnipeg.

Fort Alexander is located about 110 kilometres northeast of Winnipeg on the Sagkeeng First Nation.
