Jets' Byfuglien arrested for suspected drunk boating
Winnipeg Jets defenseman Dustin Byfuglien has been arrested in Minnesota on suspicion of boating while intoxicated.
Hennepin County Sheriff's officials say the 26-year-old Byfuglien was arrested shortly after 8 p.m. Wednesday on Lake Minnetonka in Excelsior, Minn..
A statement from the sheriff'sdepartment says he refused to submit to a blood or urine test.
He was released from the Hennepin County jail early Thursday. He has not been formally charged.
Byfuglien, a Minnesota native, was on the Chicago Blackhawks team that won the Stanley Cup in 2010 and was then traded to the Atlanta Thrashers in a salary dump. He had 20 goals and 33 assists in 81 games with the Thrashers last year. He has played 341 NHL games in his career, scoring 75 goals and 87 assists.
The franchise was relocated to Winnipeg in the offseason.
