Jets are 1 win from Stanley Cup playoffs
One win and they're in.
That's all the Winnipeg Jets need to make the playoffs — one more win. And they have two games left to get it done.
The red-hot Jets have won their past three games thanks in big part to the play of goaltender Ondrej Pavelec, who has recorded shutouts in the past two games.
The team's surge has created breathing room between it and the Los Angeles Kings, who are fighting to take the final wildcard playoff spot from the Jets.
The Kings lost Tuesday night to the Edmonton Oilers. L.A. is now three points back of the Jets and with just two games remaining, can only pick up four points at the most.
They would need to win their remaining games and have the Jets lose their final two.
Winnipeg has not made the playoffs since the NHL returned to the city for the 2011-12 season. Prior to that, as the Atlanta Thrashers, the franchise has not been in the playoffs since losing in the first round in the 2006-07 season.
The Jets play the Colorado Avalanche on Thursday and the Calgary Flames on Saturday.
Winnipeg needs one win. Just one win.
