One man is dead after a shooting in the North End Friday night.

Police were called to the area of Selkirk Avenue and Parr Street for a report of shots fired around 10 p.m. Friday. They found a man in his 20s suffering from a gunshot wound and paramedics rushed him to hospital in critical condition.

He was later pronounced dead.

Police had a large area taped off, with officers stationed at Pritchard Avenue and Parr, as well as a residence in the 700 block of Selkirk Avenue.

Const. Jay Murray couldn't confirm whether the shooting happened inside or outside the residence. Members of the forensic identification unit were seen taking photos of the house Saturday morning.

Homicide unit investigators worked through the night interviewing a number of witnesses. "They've got red eyes and haven't slept," said Murray.

There are still some witnesses police haven't spoken to, Murray said. "I would ask those individuals to come forward and speak with detectives."

The Winnipeg Police Service currently does not have any suspects in custody,  Murray said.

Police have not released many details about the victim or the shooting. "This investigation, like most homicides, is pretty complex. I think investigators still want to talk to anybody that might have witnessed this incident," Murray said.

Anyone with information can call investigators at 204-986-6508 or contact Crime Stoppers.
