Winnipeg police are looking for a driver they say was involved in a hit and run that injured a pedestrian in the city's downtown last month.

Officers responded to a collision near Main Street and James Avenue just before noon on June 25, police said in a Wednesday news release.

An 18-year-old woman got off a Winnipeg Transit bus and attempted to cross the intersection, when she was struck by a southbound vehicle, according to police.

She was taken to hospital in unstable condition but was later stabilized.

The driver left the scene of the crash.

The Winnipeg Police Service's traffic division opened an investigation, and is now asking the driver of the vehicle, a Chevrolet Equinox SUV, to come forward.

They released an image on Wednesday showing the vehicle they believe was involved in the crash.

Police are asking anyone with information, including video or dashcam footage of the collision, to call traffic division investigators at 204-986-7085, or contact Crime Stoppers at 204-786-8477 (TIPS) or online at winnipegcrimestoppers.org.
