2nd driver dies after head-on crash southwest of Winnipeg

The second driver involved in a head-on crash near Sperling, Man., has died.

RCMP, who are investigating the crash that happened Monday evening, said the male driver died in hospital.

He had three passengers in the vehicle who remain in hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The male driver of the other vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. His female passenger is in hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The vehicles collided just before 7:30 p.m. on Highway 3, about one kilometre northeast of Sperling.

Police said it's not clear yet whether alcohol was involved or if the occupants were wearing seat belts.

The road was closed for several hours following the crash and STARS air ambulance was called in as well.

Sperling is about 60 kilometres southwest of Winnipeg.
