A crowd of about 500 people was on hand at the legislature Thursday morning as the Golden Boy was hoisted back to the top of the dome after seven months on the ground.

A crane lifted the 5.2 metre, 1,633 kilogram (17 feet tall, 3,600 pound) statue to the top of the Ledge. The crane has now been detached and the statue secured.

The scaffolding surrounding the Golden Boy is expected to be removed some time next week.

The Queen will officially unveil the Golden Boy in a relighting ceremony during her visit in October.
