CBC has confirmed retired Liberal senators from Manitoba Sharon Carstairs and Rod Zimmer will have their files turned over to the RCMP in a sweeping examination of senate expenses.
The report by auditor general Michael Ferguson found 21 senators had made questionable expense claims.
Nine, including Carstairs and Zimmer, were deemed serious enough to have their files given to the RCMP for further investigation.

Carstairs, who has been critical of the senate expense scandal saying Prime Minister Stephen Harper had no one to blame but himself for it, finds herself now caught up in it.
