Extreme cold weather warnings end Sunday in southwest Manitoba
Arctic ridge of high pressure brought in cold temperatures over the weekend
An arctic ridge of high pressure has brought very cold temperatures to portions of southwestern Manitoba for another day.
Overnight low temperatures around –30 C combined with winds up to 15 km/hr led to extreme wind chill values of –40 or colder on Sunday morning, Environment Canada said.
There were extreme cold warnings in effect in the southwest including Brandon, Glenboro-South Cypress and Elton but they ended around 8:15 a.m.
There is also a chance for some flurries Sunday morning which will clear up in the afternoon, according to CBC meteorologist John Sauder.
"Then the cloud rolls back in for Sunday night with a chance for some flurries into Monday morning," Sauder said. "The colder weather takes us right through next week."

- Partly cloudy overnight.
- Low –21 C (wind chill –34).
Normal temperatures for this time of year are a daytime high of –9 C and an overnight low of –19 C.
