Charleswood-St. James-Assiniboia-Headingley
Doug Eyolfson, Liberal
The Charleswood-St. James-Assiniboia-Headingley Liberal candidate, who is a physician specializing in emergency medicine, was born in Winnipeg and grew up a huge fan of the city's NHL Jets. He was in a fan club for kids the first year the Jets existed and had a book containing autographs of the entire team.
Eyolfson's favourite music is from the 1960s and '70s, and he most often listens to the Doobie Brothers. His favourite performer from Manitoba is Randy Bachman.
The last time Eyolfson made a trip out of the province was in June, when he travelled to Ottawa for candidacy training.
Kevin Nichols, Green Party
The 54-year-old Winnipeg Blue Bombers fan was born in Winnipeg and has lived in the Charleswood-St. James-Assiniboia-Headingley riding all his life; now he and his wife are raising their three children in Charleswood.
A safety technician with the City of Winnipeg, Nichols likes driving his 1987 Corvette and listening to Nickelback, especially the song Never Again. He's a rock music lover and his favourite performer from Manitoba is Tom Cochrane, who was born in Lynn Lake.
The last time Nichols travelled out of his home province he visited his aunt in Sheboygan, Wis., near Green Bay.
Steven Fletcher, Conservative
He did not participate in the CBC-Red River College project.
He was appointed to cabinet in 2008 as minister of state (democratic reform) and following the 2011 election, he was appointed minister of state (transport). Fletcher was left out of cabinet in the July 15, 2013, shuffle by Prime Minister Stephen Harper.
According to his website, Fletcher was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and now lives in Headingley, Man. Prior to his election, he worked as an engineer in the mining industry until an automobile collision with a moose left him a quadriplegic, paralyzed from the neck down.
Tom Paulley, NDP
A retired correctional officer, previously working at Headingley Correctional Centre, Paulley has two stepchildren.
He drives a 2010 Honda Accord and the last time he travelled out of Manitoba, it was for a family winter vacation in Jamaica.
Paulley doesn't own an iPod but when he does turn on the tunes, he often listens to Leonard Cohen. His favourite Manitoba musician is children's performer Al Simmons.
Paulley is a fan of both the Winnipeg Jets and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, but thinks the Jets are currently looking more promising than the Bombers.
