Two people have been arrested in connection with an assault in which a Winnipeg hotel worker's ears were partly bitten off.

Donald (Rocky) Loupelle, 44, was taken into custody without incident, police said on Twitter Wednesday. He was wanted for aggravated assault. A woman was also arrested, but her name was not immediately released.

Laverne Bunn was on duty at the McLaren Hotel on Main Street when a man and a woman came in at 2:30 a.m. on June 19, she told CBC.

Bunn, 40, said she recognized the man as someone who had previously been evicted from the hotel for drinking. Bunn said a verbal argument with the pair turned physical.

She said the woman bit off parts of her ears and bit her face and hand. The man hit her in the head with a bat, Bunn said, and she was also kicked and punched.

At the time, police said Bunn was "viciously assaulted by the pair over several minutes causing serious injuries."
