Two teens are in hot water with Winnipeg police for dressing up as creepy clowns in a park Saturday night.

Winnipeg police arrested two 17-year-old males after receiving a report they were chasing three people in the Valley Gardens area around 8 p.m.

Police say one of the teens was carrying a flashlight that looked like a weapon. Both teens were chasing after three other teenagers between the ages of 15 and 16, police said.

Police arrested the pair in the 700 block of Kimberley Avenue but did not lay charges because the victims involved didn't want the teens charged. Police say they're still treating the incident seriously.

Dressing up as a clown is not against the law but police can still charge a person if he or she commits mischief, harasses, or assaults others.

Police say the public should call them if they encounter a dangerous situation with a creepy clown.

The creepy clown frenzy dates back to early August when reports of the clown sightings started in several U.S. states.
