A man is dead following a single vehicle crash on the Trans-Canada Highway near Headingley Friday morning.

RCMP say a man was killed in a single vehicle crash on the Trans-Canada Highway near Headingley Friday morning.

A man is dead following a single vehicle crash on the Trans-Canada Highway near Headingley Friday morning.

Headingley RCMP say an SUV was heading eastbound on the Trans-Canada Highway, roughly one kilometre west of Provincial Road 424 in the RM of Cartier, when it caught the north shoulder and rolled into the north ditch of the westbound side of the highway.

The male driver and lone occupant was ejected from the SUV and was pronounced dead at the scene.

RCMP say the man was not wearing a seatbelt and it's not clear whether alcohol was involved.

Police have not released the man's name or age.

The highway was closed for several hours Friday and RCMP continue to investigate.
