A 36-year-old woman has been charged after she allegedly caused a five-vehicle crash that injured 14 people and then spat on officers who attended the scene.

A 36-year-old woman has been charged after she allegedly caused a five-vehicle crash that injured 14 people and then spat on officers who attended the scene.

No one was seriously injured in the crash just after 9 p.m. Monday on Portage Avenue near Woodlands Crescent, across from the Grace Hospital in Winnipeg.

The impaired woman was driving an SUV on Portage when she crossed the concrete median and went into the oncoming lanes of traffic, police allege.

While in custody, the woman spat on two officers, police said.

She has been charged with driving while impaired and two counts of assaulting a peace officer.
