Impaired driving suspected in Dugald and Perimeter crash
RCMP say Steinbach woman was driving erratically, ran through red light
Manitoba RCMP say a woman was driving erratically when she hit another vehicle forcing the driver to hospital in critical condition Saturday afternoon.
STARS air ambulance had to take the 44-year-old Beausejour woman to Health Sciences Centre.
The 26-year-old female from Steinbach was driving "in a very dangerous manner" on Wenzel Street when she made her way onto the Perimeter, RCMP say.
A doctor was onboard the flight, which happens for about 10 per cent of STARS flights, the spokesperson said.
The crash happened at the intersection of Dugald Road and the Perimeter Highway when the 26-year-old ran through a red light hitting the second vehicle.
The 26-year-old had to be taken to hospital with serious injuries.
RCMP say impaired driving is believed to be a factor in the crash and charges are pending against the 26-year-old.
The Winnipeg Police Service and firefighters from the RM of Springfield and Winnipeg also responded.
