Winnipeg city councillor allegedly breached no-contact order, court documents say
Winnipeg City Councillor Thomas Steen spent Friday night in jail on new domestic violence charges.
Steen was arrested and charged with failure to comply with a no-contact order.
The order was issued after he was charged with assault and uttering threats in connection with an incident with a woman at a Winnipeg restaurant in May.
Court documents allege Steen violated that no-contact order in late June.
Steen appeared before a justice of the peace on Saturday and was released after paying a $1,500 bond.
Steen is scheduled to appear in court in August to face his original assault charges.
CBC has requested comment from Steen, but he has not yet responded.
