Corydon apartment fire sends 2 to hospital
Dozens of people forced from building early Sunday morning
Two people were taken to hospital and dozens were forced from their homes after an apartment fire in Winnipeg early Sunday morning.
Fire crews were called to the 900 block of Corydon Avenue just after 4 a.m. as smoke billowed out of some of the building's windows.
Firefighters smashed windows to fight the blaze, which broke out on the third floor, while people stood outside in pajamas and housecoats, wrapped in blankets.
Two people were taken to hospital but a Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service spokesperson said they do not believe the injuries are serious.
A CBC reporter on the scene says firefighters rescued at least one cat from the burning building.
Corydon at Stafford Street was closed for a few hours but it has since been reopened.
There is no word on the cause of the fire or the cost of damages.
