With summer tourism winding down, the Canadian Museum for Human Rights (CMHR) is shifting to an off-peak schedule and offering free admission on select days.

Starting this week the museum will be closed every Monday except on Thanksgiving Monday and Louis Riel Day, when CMHR will remain open. Regular hours stay the same, doors open at 10 a.m. and close at 5 p.m., except on Wednesdays when CMHR stays open late.

For Manitobans looking for a deal, beginning on October 14 the museum will offer free admission 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesday nights.

CMHR will also offer free admission on Dec. 10 to mark International Human Rights Day.

This fall the CMHR re-introduced its architectural "Discover the Building" tour, which now runs every Sunday at 1 p.m.

A spokesperson says the CMHR expects about 30,000 students and chaperones to explore the museum this school year. Teachers are asked to book now to reserve a spot.
