Winnipeg's King Street transforms for Chinatown Street Festival
Lion dances, Taiko drumming, Chinese Kung Fu and K-Pop performances fill the street
Music, laughter and bright colours transformed King Street for the 8th annual Chinatown Street Festival this weekend.
The street, from Alexander Avenue to James Avenue, was full of merchants, performers and a variety of delicious food.
"The Chinatown Street Festival is a wonderful event that gives the Chinese community the opportunity to share and showcase our culture with the city," Rui Wang, the festival's chairperson, said in a news release.
"The Festival began as part of the celebration of the 100th anniversary of Winnipeg's Chinatown, and we love how this annual free event brings people to Chinatown to enjoy performances, food and this rich cultural neighbourhood."
The festival includes lion dances, Taiko drumming, Chinese Kung Fu, K-Pop performances and a petting zoo, and runs throughout the weekend.
