Police are reminding Winnipeggers about an amendment to a Sunday and holiday bicycle route bylaw.

On Sunday, officers were at Oxford Street and Wellington Crescent telling people about the new rules for bike route street closures, which include limiting drivers travelling on Sunday or holiday bike routes to a distance of no more than one block.

Wellington Crescent, Wolseley Avenue, Lyndale Drive and Scotia Street are the roads affected by the bylaw, and they will be closed to drivers between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. on Sundays and holidays.

The rules, which have been in effect since May 17, will last until Thanksgiving Day Monday, and there are signs that state the one-block rule for drivers.

The city said not abiding by the rules may result in a $185 ticket.
