A 41-year-old man is in hospital after a car he was driving crashed into a ditch early Monday.

It happened at the intersection of Plessis Road and Grassie Boulevard, in North Transcona, around 12:30 a.m.

The man was rushed to hospital in critical condition but has since been upgraded to stable condition.

Police say the man failed to stop at the T-intersection before the crash. They also say alcohol was involved and the man will be facing charges, including impaired driving, once he is well enough to be charged.

The area was closed to traffic for several hours as police investigated the scene.
