The canoe capsized around 5:15 p.m. Wednesday on the Churchill River, RCMP said.

Two tour operators were alerted and pulled the girl, her four-year-old brother and the children's father from the frigid water.

All three, who were visiting the northern Manitoba town from Winnipeg, were rushed to a local hospital where the girl died, RCMP said.

The father and the boy are both listed in stable condition.

There were also two dogs in the boat. One was rescued and is alive but the other one has not been found, RCMP said.

The dad and kids were all wearing life jackets and the incident does not appear to be suspicious, RCMP said. Officers continue to investigate.
