A young Winnipeg man is speaking out, as a warning to others, about his discovery of cancer when he was just 16.
Dakota Nickels, now 21, found a tumor below his waist but was too embarrassed to tell anyone about for a year. Then it became too big to ignore and Nickels was diagnosed with testicular cancer.
He hopes others don't wait as long as he did.
"If you could really just get away from that nervousness, and then you could really make what could be a very bad situation a whole lot better."
Doctors operated immediately to remove the cancer.
And now Nickels has been cancer free for four years.
