The medals athletes will compete for at the 2017 Canada Summer Games were revealed Friday morning in Winnipeg.

The Games, which begin Saturday and go until Aug. 13, are a high-level multi-sport event for amateur athletes, held every two years in Canada, alternating between the winter and summer events.

About 20,000 visitors are expected to attend as well as 4,600 athletes, coaches and officials.

Hundreds of athletes began arriving in the city on Thursday morning.

Manitoba last played host to the Canada Summer Games in 1997, when the games were held in Brandon.
