3 arrested after drugs, weapons found in Brandon taxi
1 of the 3 also charged with involvement in a downtown shooting, police say
Police in Brandon have made another arrest in relation to a downtown shooting in late September.
Officers stopped a taxi on 18th Street near Rosser Avenue in Brandon late Monday afternoon and arrested three people who were inside.
A 39-year-old man from Dakota Tipi First Nation, a 25-year-old Brandon woman and a 39-year-old Brandon man were all charged with multiple firearms, drug and prohibited weapons offences after methamphetamine, cocaine, brass knuckles and a loaded handgun were found inside, Brandon police said Tuesday.
The handgun was later found to be stolen, police said.
The Brandon man was also charged with multiple firearms offences in connection with a shooting on 10th Street in the city's downtown on Sept. 24, police said.
A man suffered a gunshot wound to the torso in the late afternoon violence. A 24-year-old was charged with attempted murder, among other charges, the next day.
Police said more charges are pending.
