Manitoba's frigid temperatures are heating up the phone lines for CAA and the wait for a boost is growing.

Anyone in Winnipeg hoping for a service call from the auto association is facing a wait of about 1.5 hours while those in Brandon are looking at just under an hour.

CAA received more than 1,700 calls for service on the weekend, mostly for battery boosts and spokeswoman Liz Kulyk expected hundreds more for Monday.

CAA suggests people plug in their cars for at least three hours before trying to start them.
