Birch River man found safe after he was reported missing on Friday: Manitoba RCMP

Swan River RCMP say a man who was reported missing from Birch River, Man., on Friday afternoon has been found safe.

Man was last seen leaving the western Manitoba community on Thursday afternoon

A 29-year-old man from Birch River, Man., who was reported missing on Friday afternoon has been found safe, Manitoba RCMP say. 

The man was last seen around 5 p.m. on Thursday afternoon, leaving from Birch River, a small community 355 kilometres northwest of Winnipeg, police said in a news release. 

RCMP said the man told a family member that he was going to walk to Nisichawayasihk Cree Nation, about 400 kilometres northeast of Birch River before going missing. In an updated release on Friday evening, RCMP said he'd been found safe.
