Assault becomes homicide after stabbing victim dies

An assault that sent a man to hospital Friday afternoon has become a homicide after the victim died.

An assault that sent a man to hospital Friday afternoon has become a homicide after the victim died.

Winnipeg Police Service identified the victim as 50-year-old Dean Wade Yurkiw.

Police were called to a home near Redwood Avenue and Aikins Street around 4 p.m. on Friday. They found the victim suffering from stab wounds.

Paramedics rushed him to hospital in critical condition but he later died.
