Several flights were delayed or cancelled at Winnipeg's James Richardson International Airport on Monday because of wintry weather elsewhere in Canada.

Christine Alongi of the Winnipeg Airports Authority said three outbound flights were cancelled at the Winnipeg airport — flights to Ottawa, Calgary and Vancouver.

Many inbound flights from other parts of Canada were delayed.

Alongi said aircraft are backed up at key airports across the country.

"One ... that was cancelled this morning out of Winnipeg to go to Vancouver … didn't make it here last night, so there's no equipment to operate."

She advised travellers to check with their airlines or the Winnipeg Airports Authority website for the latest on arrival and departure times.
