An inmate who was one of three prisoners assaulted at Stony Mountain Institution in Manitoba last week has died.
Correctional Service of Canada spokesman Jeff Campbell says Adam Kent Monias, 25, died in hospital on Saturday.
Monias and two other inmates were in the medium security unit of the jail north of Winnipeg when the assaults occurred Thursday night.
The CSC hasn't said what happened, and Campbell didn't have further details, saying the incidents are still under investigation.
Monias was serving an indeterminate sentence for second-degree murder, aggravated assault and uttering threats to cause death or harm.
Both the medium and maximum security areas of Stony Mountain Institution have been in lockdown since Thursday.
