WRDSB elementary teachers could strike by May 10
The Waterloo Region District School Board has sent out a letter to families warning them that local elementary school teachers could go on strike as early as May 10.
The letter, co-signed by director of education John Bryant and school board chair Kathleen Woodcock, explains that should an elementary strike happen, all kindergarten to grade 8 elementary schools will be closed.
The WRDSB say they are also in negotiations with the Ontario Secondary School Teachers Federation District 24.
"We understand that the potential for labour disruption can create anxiety for our students, parents and staff," wrote Bryant and Woodcock in the letter.
"We want to assure you that we will be communicating regularly with parents and students to ensure that you have as much information as possible, so that you can make informed decision and undertake any contingency planning."
