Got milkweed? That's the question that a new project between the David Suzuki Foundation and the University of Guelph wants Canadians to think about. The initiative is working to preserve the monarch butterfly population, and since the butterflies are dependent on milkweed, they're asking people to plant milkweed.

Here are some local nurseries and online seed companies that sell milkweed plants and seeds. Be sure to call the nurseries themselves for details on what varieties they offer. Seek their advice on best places to plant, how to tend and enjoy the only plant on which monarch butterflies will lay their eggs.
