Waterloo regional police say two police badges were stolen from a home in Cambridge.

Police got the call on Tuesday about the alleged theft.

Police say an investigation revealed personal property and two Waterloo Regional Police Service badges had been stolen.

The badges had been stored in a safe inside the home and no other police items were stolen, according to police.

Police say if people have concerns about someone using a police badge improperly, they should ask for more identification or call 911 to confirm the identity and presence of the officer at a certain location.

Police continue to investigate and are asking anyone with information to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
