Waterloo regional police responded to two separate reports of shots fired in Kitchener and Waterloo Friday morning.

The service tweeted officers responded to residences on Speckled Alder Street in Waterloo and Apple Ridge Drive in Kitchener.

Police said no one was injured.

"There will be a high police presence in these areas throughout the morning however, we do not believe there are concerns for public safety in these neighbourhoods. No schools have been closed," police said in a tweet Friday morning.

Officers were called to Waterloo just after 4 a.m. for reports of multiple shots fired. A silver Honda Civic with tinted windows was seen leaving the area. Police started to follow the car and tried to get the driver to pull over, but stopped the pursuit at Bleams Road in Kitchener out of concerns for public safety.

Then just before 5 a.m., officers were called to Kitchener where it was reported multiple shots were fired at a residence.

A white vehicle was seen in the area just before shots were fired, police say.

Detectives are investigating to determine if the two shootings are linked.
