SIU charges Waterloo Regional Police officer with sexual assault

A Waterloo Regional Police constable has been charged with sexual assault related to an incident that happened in October 2017, according to Ontario's Special Investigations Unit.

A Waterloo Regional Police constable has been charged with sexual assault related to an incident that happened in October 2017, according to Ontario's Special Investigations Unit. 

On Oct. 17, 2017, a woman was allegedly assaulted by an off-duty police officer during an Oktoberfest celebration at the Concordia Club in Kitchener. 

Waterloo Regional Police contacted the SIU two days later, regarding a "complaint of a sexual nature against the officer."

After investigating the incident, the SIU charged the officer with one count of sexual assault.

The constable will appear in a Kitchener courtroom on March 28.
