All 3 city mayors in Waterloo region to seek re-election this fall
Cambridge Mayor Doug Craig, Kitchener Mayor Berry Vrbanovic and Waterloo Mayor Dave Jaworsky all want to keep their jobs this fall.
The three men have all filed their paperwork to run for mayor of their cities again.
Craig was the most recent to file his paperwork, doing so on June 5.
So far, Jaworsky is the only one facing competition, with Kelly Steiss also running to be mayor in Waterloo.
Regional Chair Ken Seiling has announced he will not be running again. There are two people who have signed up to run for that seat: Jan d'Ailly and Karen Redman.
In the townships, Mayor Sue Foxton has filed to run again in North Dumfries, Wilmot Mayor Les Armstrong is seeking another term and so is Woolwich Mayor Sandy Shantz. No one is running against them yet.
In Wellesley, Mayor Joe Nowak is being challenged for his seat by Bernia Wheaton.
In Guelph, Mayor Cam Guthrie is also seeking re-election.
The nomination period is open until Friday, July 27.
The municipal elections will be held on Monday, Oct. 22.
