Hot humid days are ahead this week, warns Environment Canada, as temperatures are forecast to reach between 30 and 33 C starting Wednesday afternoon.

The weather authority issued a heat warning Tuesday, saying the humidity will make it feel even warmer. Humidex values are expected to reach 40.

Environment Canada also cautioned there won't be much relief in the evenings; overnight lows will stay above 20 C.

"Extreme heat affects everyone," Environment Canada said in its weather warning, adding the people at greatest risk during heat events are older adults, people with chronic illnesses, pregnant people and young children.

Anyone who works or exercises outside is also at risk of heat stroke or heat exhaustion.
