Watch: Einstein's general theory of relativity examined, 100 years later
It was 100 years ago that Albert Einstein developed the general theory of relativity, one of the foremost breakthroughs in modern physics.
To commemorate the anniversary, the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics in Waterloo is hosting a live webcast discussing Einstein and the theory, which didn't achieve prominence until the middle of the century.
"This talk will trace the genesis of general relativity, look at Einstein's research and the work of many other scientists who contributed to the theory, and show how general relativity eventually became not only a highly active field of research but one of the principal challenges to the conceptual unification of physics," according to the Perimeter Institute's description of the event, which gets underway at 8 p.m.
