Final asphalt paving scheduled for several streets in uptown Waterloo

Sections of uptown Waterloo will be closed for the day as Grandlinq plans to complete final asphalt paving on several streets. Final layer of asphalt to be placed on Caroline Street, Allen Street and King Street in four separate closures.

Next week, sections of uptown Waterloo will be closed for the day as Grandlinq plans to complete final asphalt paving on several streets.

Crews will place the final layer of asphalt on Caroline Street, Allen Street and King Street from June 6 to June 10 in four separate 24 hour closures.

Crews plan on placing the asphalt during the day and striping the road at night. However, any rainy days in the forecast could delay this work as crews can't place asphalt in wet or humid weather.

Here is a timeline of what to expect:

June 6: Caroline Street

  • Work will begin at 7 am.
  • Full road closure of Caroline Street from Erb Street to Allen Street. Paving doesn't include the intersection of Caroline and Erb Streets.

June 7: Allen Street and King Street

  • Work will begin at 7 am.
  • Full road closure of Allen Street from Caroline Street to King Street.
  • Caroline Street and Allen Street intersections along with the King Street and Allen Street intersections will be impacted.
  • On-street parking will not be available on Allen Street.
  • King Street from Allen Street to William Street will also be closed on June 7.
  • Work will not include the King Street and William Street intersection.
  • On-street parking on King Street will not be available.

June 8: King Street

  • Work will begin at 7 am.
  • Full road closure of King Street from William Street to the LRT crossing and railway tracks near the public square.
  • King Street and William Street intersection along with King Street and Willis Way will be impacted due to work.
  • On-street parking will not be available.

June 9: More King Street

  • Work will begin at 7 am.
  • Full road closure of King Street from Allen Street to Union Street.
  • Work will impact intersection of King Street and John Street.
  • On-street parking on King Street will not be available.
