University of Guelph track coach on leave as information from athletes reviewed

The University of Guelph won't release details, but says track coach Dave Scott-Thomas is on personal leave after the school received information from current and past athletes 'regarding their experiences on the team.'

Dave Scott-Thomas, head coach of the University of Guelph's track and field team, is on a leave of absence after the school received information from past and current athletes about their experiences on the team.

The university issued a statement on Scott-Thomas' departure, saying that information was received and the school is "actively and responsibly reviewing the information received in accordance with university processes and procedures."

The statement added, "In accordance with the university's policies and relevant privacy legislation, the university does not comment on such matters while those processes are underway." 

Scott-Thomas is also coach of the Speed River Track and Field club, where he has worked with Olympic athletes.

A biography on the university's website says Scott-Thomas has won the U Sports coach of the year award 35 times.
