Prime Minister Justin Trudeau tapped the keg to open the 48th annual K-W Oktoberfest in Kitchener, Ont. Friday.
The festival is the second-largest celebration of Bavarian culture in the world after Munich, Germany's Oktoberfest, and has been a staple of the Kitchener-Waterloo community.
Trudeau was joined by Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne, Kitchener Mayor Berry Vrbanovic, Waterloo Regional Chair Ken Seiling and K-W Oktoberfest president Alfred Lowrick.
About 700,000 festival attendees are expected, according to a release from the festival.
