A black pick-up truck was used to pull a bank machine from inside the front doors of a Guelph strip club, but the would-be thieves lost the ATM as they drove away, police said.

Police received a call at 6:52 a.m. on Wednesday that three people in a truck were using the truck to break through the front doors of The Manor. Police arrived at the strip club as a dark-coloured crew cab four-door truck with a short box, possibly a Ford F150, was driving westbound on Wellington St. W.

The truck was dragging the bank machine on a chain, but the machine came loose from the truck just west of the Hanlon overpass.

The truck continued westbound. Police said there would be no damage to the truck, but it may have been seen dragging a chain.

There is no description of the three suspects involved.

Police are continuing to investigate.

The Manor was the subject of a 2013 documentary that premiered at the Hot Docs film festival in Toronto. It was created by first-time filmmaker Shawney Cohen, who chronicled his family's ownership of Guelph's only strip club.

The club has also become a place of worship. The Church at the Manor holds services there every Sunday at 12:30 p.m.
