Subjects in Japanese comfort women documentary heroes, director Tiffany Hsiung says

Toronto filmmaker Tiffany Hsiung didn't go to Japan planning to make a film about comfort women - women who were kidnapped and used as sexual slaves by the Japanese Imperial Army during the Second World War.
In a conversation with The Morning Edition host Craig Norris, Hsiung said she was captivated by their stories and after two weeks, she stayed in the country for two months to hear about their experiences.
That led to her documentary, The Apology, which is airing at the Zonta Film Festival this week in Waterloo.
The festival features feminist films made by women that highlight human rights issues.
