Student Vote Canada shows greener mock outcome in Waterloo region, Guelph
Four local incumbents would keep their jobs, according to students
Students in and around Waterloo region took part in mock elections held by Student Vote Canada, and if those results were the official ones, the local results would have been a bit more green.
In their balloting, Green candidates won the votes of students in Kitchener Centre and Guelph ridings.
Of the eight local ridings, four incumbents would have been re-elected: Bryan May in Cambridge, Bardish Chagger in Waterloo, Michael Chong in Wellington-Halton Hills and John Nater in Perth-Wellington.
Overall, the student vote saw the Liberals win 109 seats nationally to form a minority, with the NDP forming the official Opposition with 98 seats and the Conservative Party winning 94 seats. The Green Party won 28 seats in the mock elections. Bloc candidates won 9 seats in the vote, although Yves-François Blanchet did not win his seat in Beloeil-Chambly.
